Amazing First Week of the Alphabet!

It's that time of year again... school time! Kieryn doesn't begin preschool until Sept. 8, but learning about the alphabet at the Copp household has already begun! I debated on doing it again, but the more I considered it, the more it seemed like a good idea. The kids have so much fun with it and I feel like they pick up so much! This time around, I hope to have Kieryn reading a few site words as well as improving her letter drawing, cutting, and matching/patterning. Ronan can recognize some of the letters already! Hopefully after this round, he can pronounce words better and spell his name verbally! Hopefully those aren't too big of goals!

So we started letter A week with some airplane activities. We did big/little "A" matching and some practice cutting. We then did name practice and made our own paper airplanes to try out!

Tuesday was a beautiful day! So, I decided to take our learning out doors! We practiced tracing names and then did some apple picking! We first sorted colors and then we sorted big/little "A" apples! The kids loved it. Something else I plan to add this year is some numbers tracing and more counting. So we did a quick sheet on number 1.

That afternoon was HOT so we invited our neighbor to come play in our pool. The kids played from 10a-1:30p and had so much fun!

Of course we had icecream!

On Wednesday we did activities about animals! We did tracing, number matching/counting, and some animal songs.

It had rained on Tuesday night, so we went outside in search of leftover puddles... but sadly we could only find this one lone puddle. The kids still splashed a little before we headed over the the playground.

On Thursday we did a quick lesson on angels and how we too can "be an angel." Then we turned on some music and did some aerobics! The kids each took turns leading the workout. It was great!

On Friday we finished with some letter A tracing, review, and then some ant marching/counting.

It was an amazing coincidence, but the Harrisburg Airport had their open house on Saturday so we drove over to see all the airplanes to end our letter "A" week. The kids had a lot of fun seeing them up close and sitting in a few.

Great start to the alphabet! Can't wait to see what the kids will learn this time around!
