Play Week!

We took this week off from structured play/learning and just enjoyed the nice weather as much as possible. We did lots of parks, picnics, and walks/rides. Kieryn loves her new bike so much that she was doing circles in the garage while Ronan was asleep. I put down some bubble paper to make it more interesting!

She's getting pretty brave as she tries biking with no hands...

On Friday we went to some community yard sales with some friends. It was fun! I even found something extra special for Kieryn without her knowing about it...

She was so excited to see all the Cars characters! It's her new favorite thing...

On Saturday Kieryn attended her first birthday party. She wanted to wear her party dress... so I let her. She had a blast! Thanks for inviting us Norah!

Ronan and I had fun too!

Until next time!

Easter Week!

We had lots of fun this week doing Easter activities!
We began the week making Easter cards for family. I didn't get to take pictures because the process required my full attention....

Tuesday we colored eggs with the "no spill" method. WONDERFUL!!

We did face eggs...

Wednesday we baked cookies! Kieryn did a great job sorting all the cookie cutters in to "Easter" cutters and non-Easter cutters before we began. We used Great Grandma Rosella's cookie recipe! YUM YUM!!

Thursday we made a spring/Easter photo with stickers and stampers.

And Friday we attended the MOMS group egg hunt!

On Saturday morning we awoke to a surprise from the E. bunny!

Then we headed to Maryland to spend the rest of the weekend with family. Kieryn and Ronan were so excited to see their cousins!

They had a great time doing an egg hunt Saturday afternoon!

After the hunt, the kids enjoyed their bubbles...

and of course, the treats!

Hope you had a Happy Easter!

Safety first!

On Monday morning, Kieryn wanted to share her new PJs with baby brother... I couldn't miss this adorable photo opportunity!

This week I chose to do a "SAFETY" week. Each letter of the word "safety" stood for something we talked about-- S=strangers, A=alarms & sirens, F=fire safety, E=emergencies, T=telephone, Y=you. We began Monday talking about strangers. We looked at photos of family, safe strangers, and then not safe strangers. We read some books and discussed some "stranger" situations. She seemed to understand it, however, the concept is still a little confusing when strangers act nice... we'll continue to work on it.

On Tuesday we listened to different alarms and sirens. We discussed why they were loud and what they meant. We took time to find the smoke alarms in our house and then those in the building of playgroup. We even listened for ambulance and firetrucks while playing outside.

Tuesday night we played at the Kidmazium! This is my new VERY part-time job. I work here two nights a month and barter the hours towards a summer gymnastics class for Kieryn! The facility is close and the kids can play while I work... WIN-WIN!!

Wednesday was fire safety day. We talked about firefighters and what they do. We read books and then pretended to put out fires throughout the neighborhood. Kieryn loved this! We had to "sound the alarm" when there was a fire (the horn on her bike). It was great!

Thursday we talked about emergencies and discussed what real emergencies are. She did a great job deciding which were serious emergencies and which were not.

Then we did some practice with an emergency... fire on the clothing - STOP, DROP, & ROLL. She loved it! We tried talking about what to do if she smelled smoke and heard the fire alarms... feeling doors for warmth and crawling on the floor, but it was short lived... she didn't like the idea of a fire being in the house.

That afternoon we had friends over and we had lots of fun outside with water! So sad that Kayden and Noah are moving next week...

Friday we reviewed how to dial 911 on the land line and on my cell phone. She did a great job! She can tell them what happened and what our address is. It was so funny when she began having a full pretend conversation talking about how she was getting a big girl bike soon and her grandparents were coming to visit. SO CUTE!

For the "y" we reviewed holding hands when we cross the street, wearing bike helmets, and strangers. I had books and songs for this one.

Ronan is our growing boy...licks the jar clean!

This weekend we had so much fun out doors. The weather was FINALLY fabulous!

I was proud of that make-shift tee!

Kieryn got her big girl bike! She wants to ride it all the time now...

And Ronan is 10 months old! He's growing so fast... where has the time gone??

We love you Kieryn and Ronan! Until next time...
