Wacky Weather

This was our view on Tuesday morning... it was 32 degrees with about 3 inches of snow that was mostly melted by the afternoon. The next two days were cloudy and dreary (35-40 degrees).. but as the weekend approached, the weather changed drastically. On Saturday and Sunday the temps reached 75 & 80+ degrees!

We took advantage of the warmer/sunnier days as much as possible! Kieryn really enjoyed her sidewalk chalk!

We did some jumping in squares, circles, and triangles...

But, her favorite thing was the pink choo-choo!

We visited Willie over the weekend and gave him multiple high-fives!

And we went to the bike/helmet fair!

Kieryn just started pedaling all by herself this week. We were practicing in the kitchen on one of those colder days and she got it! So by the time we went to the bike fair, she was a pro on her "bike!" Now she can really pedal pretty fast up and down our sidewalk! She only needs a small push when there's an incline!

She also got to see an ambulance and fire engine up close. She really enjoyed the fire truck and the stickers that they gave out!

We even ventured to the zoo! Kieryn's favorite spot was the monkey exhibit...

And the big tiger! He's lounging here, but we got to see him get up and walk around. Kieryn was impressed at how "ik" (her version of big) he was!

She even made a new friend!

I can't believe it's almost May! Our count down to the first move has begun! We'll be loading up fourth weekend in May... and we're sad that our stay in Manhattan is (too) quickly coming to an end! Until next time...

Rainy Days...

The weather hasn't been the brightest yet... we've had more cloudy/rainy days than sunny/warm days. One evening last week, we let Kieryn go out in the rain for a short time. She loved the puddles! I think her favorite part was getting to wear her rain jacket. She was even wearing it in the house as she watched the rain and lightening from the front door.

Sadly she doesn't have rain boots yet, but her crocks were just as fun as she could feel the water between her toes!

Hoping for some sun soon! :)

So Big!

We had a few days early last week that were stormy, and a few of those storms had high winds and hail... so we moved stuff from the garage to the house so we could pull our car into the garage. While things were in the house, Kieryn had fun playing on them. Her favorite was the elliptical. After climbing on it for a few awhile, she decided it'd be safer with her shoes and bike helmet...

We had a blast at gymnastics this week. Steven sure did get a workout chasing her around.  Kieryn jumped off the edge of the big trampoline several times by herself this visit. She had NO fear and was having so much fun we had trouble getting her to leave!

On Saturday we visited the Discovery Center for their 1 year anniversary festivities. We were in the right place a the right time... Kieryn made the news later that night and the Manhattan Mercury the next morning! We were surprised to see her on the front page!

She is getting super independent (she must know her big sister duties will begin soon). Today she didn't want to ride in the cart or the "car" shopping cart at the grocery store. Instead, she wanted to push her own cart. Surprisingly, she was pretty good at steering and maneuvering through people. She even picked out a few items to put in her car all by herself... chips, chocolate, and a sugary drink... we'll need to work on her choices later! :)

Until next time...

Dr. Steven Copp!!

Kieryn began her week with a little blanket fashion. She is becoming very attached to her monkey (Nano) and her blanket. She likes to wear it as a dress, cape, and scarf. She especially likes the cape when doing her jumping!

Although it was a fairly normal week for Kieryn and I, it was a unique one for Steven. He's been very busy preparing for his final defense in order to receive his Ph.D and this past Friday was the big day! Kieryn, Baby 2, and I had a few good luck presents for him. We were so excited for him and proud of all his hard work!

I was in charge of the "snack" spread at the defense, so I made chocolate covered pretzels and served a variety of fruit and cheese/crackers. Simple, but a huge hit.

Steven's topic for his final defense...

The defense lasted about 30 minutes and he did a wonderful job of presenting. After his presentation, questions were taken and he answered them for an additional 30 minutes. It made me smile to see him in action! He's definitely doing something he enjoys and has a passion for! After answering questions (with ease) he was further interviewed by his panel for a little over an hour.
After that, he was happy to report that he'd passed! It's official - I'm married to a doctor!

We had friends over later that night to celebrate and Kieryn was excited to show off her pretty nails. She'd painted them "eek" (pink) just for Daddy's special day!

We love you so much Dr. (Daddy) Copp and we are super proud of you!

On Saturday, we took Kieryn to a KSU baseball game. Her favorite part was getting to see Willie.

Then on Sunday we enjoyed donuts at Varsity. Kieryn knew just the donut to get... the "boo" (blue) one. She was having more fun than usual, so I couldn't resist taking a few pictures.

When we got home, it was time to dress up Mickey.... hope Uncle Kevin is ok with a Redskin's Mickey wearing sparkly red shoes and necklaces!

I couldn't help but add this picture after I'd already updated the blog... Kieryn fell asleep at 11:15am. It's now 1:20 pm and she's still out cold...must have been all that sugar from the donuts (in combination with a BUSY weekend)!! Our little sleeping beauty!

Busy Week & A Happy Easter!

We began our Easter activities last Monday. I tried to do a different Easter craft/activity each day. Kieryn didn't understand all of them, but she had fun making the mess!

Monday - Painting

 Tuesday - Hand Puppets

!

Wednesday - Glitter/Sprinkle Eggs

Thursday - Coloring Eggs

Friday - Easter Egg Balloons (Kieryn wanted to dance/jump in her swim suit)

Last Thursday evening was the Kinesiology Department Banquet and Steven was awarded Graduate Student of the Year! We are so proud of him and his hard work!! Congrats Steven, we love you so much!!

On Saturday we attended an Easter egg hunt at our church. There were games and lots of other kids. Most of the games were geared towards older kids, but Kieryn had just as much fun jumping and running along.

They even had live animals for the kids to see - chicks, goats, and bunnies.

It took Kieryn a little bit to get the idea of "gathering eggs in her basket," but she picked up about 5 eggs and then she was over it.

Instead of gathering eggs, she wanted to play on the swings!

Later Saturday afternoon, we upgraded Kieryn to a "big girl bed". She really loves it and has been sleeping well in it. She even picked out her sheets and blanket... she's very close to saying pink, but it sounds like "eek" right now.

She was so excited and just wanted to jump... so it's been a process to teach her not to jump on it.

Easter morning at the Copp House...

We had a mini egg hunt and this time Kieryn knew just what to do!

Ready for Easter Mass...

That afternoon we visited Seneca. Grandma and Grandpa Haug spoiled Kieryn with Easter goodies!

When it came time to hunt eggs, she was a pro! She was sprinting and looking all over. She loved it. We had to hide them twice because she had so much fun!

After lunch and the egg hunt, we played outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Her and Uncle Travis had a lot of fun!

Then we visited the Greats...

Overall it was a wonderful week and weekend!

We had our 28 week baby appointment today. All is well and Baby Boy is growing like a weed!

Until next time...
