Zip Zip and That’s It!

On Sunday evening we enjoyed a scavenger hunt at Pott#2 Lake with some 4-H friends!

On Monday our sweet baby turned 8 months old! WOW! This came up fast! Tyson is crawling with ease, making lots of baby noises, and enjoys playtime and snuggles from siblings. He's such a joy to have in our family.

Alexis finished her alphabet this week and Kieryn and Ronan have just three weeks left to go!

After introducing Alexis to her books for the day she realized that she had on her "Frozen Elsa" shirt!

Tyson gets all kinds of help with all kinds of things... he probably liked this a lot because we think he's getting another tooth!

We woke up on Tuesday morning to 4 inches of snow... so we spent the morning outside enjoying the snow. It was all gone by lunch time and everything was green again. It was the craziest thing!

When we finally started some school, Alexis practiced cutting zig-zags and learned to zip a zipper.

On Wednesday we did some zigging and some zagging.

And did a letter Z search.

On Thursday Alexis did some cut and paste to put the zoo lion together. She also watched a virtual zoo tour of Melbourne Australia zoo. The weather was too cold and rainy for us to actually do a zoo trip this week. We hope to go soon...

Another fun thing Alexis did was play in ziti pasta. She helped make ziti pasta and zucchini for her dinner night.

Kieryn and Ronan are still learning about the planets and the solar system. We did some coloring this week. We hope it's clear enough by the weekend to use a telescope to look at the stars!

All the kids had fun with the pasta... pretending... sorting...

Thursday was "Earth Day"! So, to celebrate we did a jog with the dogs around the neighborhood park, made a solar oven and roasted marshmallows (which doubled as our science experiment for the day) and we spent time looking at our globe and learning fun "Earth facts" from the internet!

We even had time for some brother bonding!

This was our surprise Earth day dessert at dinner!

It was a super fun week! There are lots of mixed feelings as our formal "school" comes to a close. Only a few weeks of school left.

Spring is in Full Swing!

This week Alexis covered letter Y, while Kieryn and Ronan finished up week 32 of our home curriculum! We played outside a ton and are loving the spring-time activities!

We started the letter Y lesson with yarn play and a search for yellow stones to make the letter Y.

Then we did a yellow matching game...

And noticed that we were dressed in the color of the day!

We enjoyed some yellow items with our lunch and a yogurt.

Tyson enjoyed some sensory "mess-free" play while I did one-on-one with the big kids.

Then we all enjoyed the weather outside... even Toby and Maddie had fun!

We are doing a space unit in science, so we took time to mark out how far the planets are from the sun. It was a really fun activity.

On Tuesday Alexis had some fun mail...

And had fun with yellow yarn for a letter Y picture.

The big kids got to do yarn art as well.

Fun picnic lunch and outside free play!

On Wednesday we practiced some lacing and did some yoga.

Alexis was tired from multiple days of outside time so we did finger tracing instead of trying a pencil.

On Thursday we had fun playing Yahtzee together and having more yarn play.

Friday was a rainy day, so all the kids had fun playing mega blocks together!

On Saturday the kids discovered that the nest in their playground had an egg! By the end of the day there were two eggs! It will be fun to see if they hatch.

Until next time!
