Thanksgiving Week!

We took a break from the alphabet this week and instead spent the week talking about Thanksgiving! Each day we read about 2-3 different books about Thanksgiving and then did some fun activities.
We began the week by making another "Tom the Turkey."

I was still able to incorporate some learning into the fun activities. We did a Thanksgiving matching sheet...

and of course some art projects!

On Tuesday morning we made our "thankful" turkeys. Both Kieryn and Ronan had to put what they were thankful for!

That afternoon we did a counting worksheet and then made turkey treats!

On Wednesday we began the morning with a sheet to find the things that were "different".

Later we played with leaves and did sorting by colors. Kieryn was very proud of her leaf man!

On Thursday we did a pattern worksheet...

and colored some Thanksgiving pictures

Later that morning we went to story time at the library and they too had a bunch of fun Thanksgiving activities set up. The kids enjoyed the milk and cookies with their friend Callen!

That afternoon and evening we set up a huge train track in the basement and played for over an hour on it!

On Friday morning we made a leaf wreath and did some leaf play with Ronan.

Caught Ronan playing trains in his favorite slippers and couldn't resist taking a quick pic!

Our newest K-State Santa arrived on Friday! It made me very excited and ready to put up my Christmas decor!

So of course... we began Saturday morning by doing just that! Kieryn helped me sort tree branches...

And after we found these we had to turn on some Christmas music and break for a dance party!

We took a break around 11:00 and got ready for the Palmyra's holiday parade. It was SOOOO cold, but fun just the same!

We got to go with our friends...

And afterwards we came home to warm up and finish the tree...

Usually I wait to put up Christmas until after Thanksgiving but we are traveling so much at the end of Nov and Dec that we wanted to enjoy them. I think it was a little confusing for Kieryn that we'd just spent the week talking about Thanksgiving and then we put up the tree... I tried to explain that we wanted to enjoy the tree and lights for a little longer due to our traveling. I think she understood... and if not, she sure had fun putting up the tree and all the ornaments. So either way I think it's ok! We look forward to seeing the Copp family next week for Thanksgiving!
