Happy Start To November!

It was a great start to November! The weather this week was wonderful so we spent extra time out doors! Alexis learned about letter H this week!

We started her lesson with a horse ride and the H/h matching... she matched the correct hay to the hippo.

We turned our "H" into a house...

practiced cutting and pasting...

And finished with some tracing. We tried to wear different hats each time we read our books this week. No pictures, but it was fun!

On Tuesday did a quick letter review and name practice...

We talked about body parts that begin with letter H - head, hips, heel, heart, hair, and hands.  We took extra time to talk about how our hands can help others.

Later the kids had a blast throwing things up in our front tree and knocking them down with balls.

On Wednesday we did some threading with letter H...

and did some hammer practice and later sang nursery rhymes that have letter H. There are, surprisingly, quite a few... Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory, If you're Happy and you Know it, Hokey Pokey, and Hickety Pickety My Black Hen

We celebrated both Maddie and Toby's birthdays on Wednesday. Maddie turned 1 year old on Wednesday and Toby turned 3 on Tuesday.

Both dogs got a special bone treat  and we got them a new blanket (one that they can actually lay on since it drives me crazy when they lay on our lap blankets).

We finished up our H lessons on Thursday by using "hearts" to practice colors/sorting and counting...

We even made a fun Heart guy!

Thursday was science experiment day! The big kids learned about some properties of water.

Love this guy!

Until next time!
