Dandy Week Indeed!

It was a great way to begin our letter “D” week... how many letter D things can you find about this picture? Ok, here it is: digging in dirt with Daddy while wearing a dress! And WOW did Alexis enjoy this!

We began our lesson on Monday with some books and then some pretend doctor play. Christie ended up getting a check up too... she fit right into the lesson!

We practiced big and little D by feeding dog bones to Duke and Daisy...

We did a Dalmatian craft and puzzle...

Then played with our dogs! Alexis loved movie night watching 101 Dalmations!

For PE we took the dogs on a walk/jog...

And practiced our jump rope... everyone is getting better every time!

Tuesday's "D" was for dressing dolls and playing duplo blocks!

For our PE time on Tuesday we made drums... we watched videos about Congo drums (since the big kids are learning about Africa in Science) and the goblet drum (which were used by Egyptians - since we are studying that in History). Then we tried to replicate their music and incorporate some dancing! And of course we played some football afterwards.

Kieryn loved all the drumming... she said it's her favorite instrument!

On Wednesday we did a lesson on dinosaurs and "diggers"... and then combined the two - digging for dino bones...

Donut Day!

First we practiced shapes and matching dino footprints (I made these out of my left over salt dough)

a bit of name practice...

and dino pretend with Kieryn and Ronan...

I made "dino bones" out of salt dough a day or two prior and baked them so that they were hard. Then I hid them in some kinetic sand for Alexis to dig out... she could choose to use a digger or her fingers...

She LOVED this activity... and so did the big kids!

Tyson wore his dino pjs for the occasion and enjoyed sitting in his bouncy listening and watching the big kids play with the kinetic sand on the floor.

Later the kids did a "dangerous" slide on our basement steps. It wasn't really dangerous for them... just for their Barbies and other characters that they decided to send down...

Alexis loved helping with dinner on Wednesday too!

On Thursday we read books and took a field trip to see some ducks...

Sadly there were no ducks... only geese, but we had fun counting them, listening to them and watching them. They didn't want our bread crumbs so the kids had fun feeding fish instead.

Friday was "fun free day"

We did morning games... the big kids learned a new dice math game called knockout...

Alexis and I played with the dice and worked on matching numbers to dots on the dice...

We did a dino puzzle...

And for PE did dice and dumbbells! One dice stood for the exercise you performed, and the other was for the number of reps you had to do.

They really liked this!

Alexis did dots on her letter D's...

Did some tracing...

And made a dolphin craft...

Later we wrapped up the day's lesson with some donut hole shape matching...

We finished the week's letter the same way it started... all of the kids had fun digging in the garden with Daddy on Saturday!

Until next time!
