Learning about the seasons!

This week we spent time talking about the seasons. This was a great topic because it was a good refresher for Ronan and a great way to bring a lot of things together. We started with spring! We did raindrop counting... Ronan was able to do 1-15 with no problem!

Then we practiced cutting and talked about the parts of the flowers that come up in the spring.

Afterwards we went outside and found just the right flower to further investigate.

We matched all the parts to those we'd talked about on our paper....

Then we practiced using descriptive words to talk about our flower. Smelled so good!

Later we took care of some vegetables in the garden. Ronan really seems to enjoy helping water and pull weeds!

And of course, in spring you need to have a popsicle!!

We read these books about spring!

That evening I sent the kids on a "spring scavenger hunt." They loved the freedom to explore outside all by themselves! They found everything!

On Tuesday we talked about summer! We started with a picnic lunch...

After lunch we spent time investigating some sea shells. We talked about differences and similarities. Then I had them put the shells in order big to small. Then we made a "shell train" and counted them!

We played with a beach ball... catching, hitting, and kicking.

And spent time with the water guns and squirt guns!

Seeing a bird on our feeder made the day so great!!

On Wednesday the boys had a blast with Aunt Janell. They did more name practice and tracing.

On Thursday we talked about Fall. We did some leaf pictures...

We dressed up in a few different Halloween costumes.

We finished up with Ronan's favorite... FOOTBALL! We played this for awhile.

On Friday we saved the lesson to do with Kieryn. We talked about winter! We decided to have hot chocolate while making paper snowflakes to work on some scissor skills.

Afterwards we made newspaper snowballs and had a snowball fight! This was good to practice tearing and scrunching!

The kids loved it!

At the end, we each took a turn throwing at a moving target! Great times!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!!
Until next time!
