K is for Kieryn!

This week was letter K! Kieryn practiced writing it several times, along with her name. We read kitten, kite, and kicking books. We colored kangaroos and koalas, as well as tasted kiwi, kale, and kabobs....fun week!

She is getter good at putting the clips in her hair when she wakes up in the morning, couldn't resist taking a pic...

On Tuesday we talked about being a kind kid... and covered some things that she could do for the week that were kind.

Then we played a kite matching game. Ronan had fun too!

I had them close their eyes so I could hand them the next kite... I love seeing Ronan play along!

That evening we shared a Kitkat for dessert!

On Wednesday we talked about King Solomon and watched a few videos... put on crowns and pretended to be kind kings too!

Then we spent a few minutes going through our books and toys. Each of the kids chose three toys or books to donate...

This was our kind act for the day!

That evening we had kisses for dessert... after Kieryn made the letter K of course!

On Thursday we turned on the Christmas tunes and did some karate kicks! We watched a few UTube videos first so see how the pros do it... They loved it, stacking, kicking, and re-stacking... lasted for awhile!

That night we enjoyed kabobs!

On Friday we did our letter K hunt and then practiced some simple spelling with magnetic letters. She is VERY good at her own name!

Over the weekend we found time to make our annual gingerbread TRAIN! The kids loved it! I was surprised that we had any candy left to decorate... the candy was their favorite part!

These two worked together for the finishing touches...

Have a great weekend from our little Mickey and Minnie!

We have A LOT to be thankful for!

We began the week making yummy cookies to bring with us to North Carolina for Thanksgiving with the Caywood and Copp families! Kieryn was so excited to have another chance to wear her apron and hat! Ronan had a lot of fun too!

We spent Tuesday night at Grandmom and Grandpop's house... and they surprised Kieryn and Tiana with matching PJs! These two were smiles the rest of the night!

Oh cousin love! Both singing "Let It Go" at the top of their lungs...

These two had tons of fun all weekend!

They played the computer while the adults watched the KSU Wildcats on Saturday!

Ronan and Micah will be partners in crime someday!

Kieryn also had a lot of fun with her other cousins too! She and Jacob had fun on the hike...

and watching Curious George together...

Poor Gavin was sick for about 24 hours of our visit. Luckily no one else caught it! But we felt so bad for him!

Future KSU roommates!

Grandpop got in on some reading with the kids...

and then they all posed for a cousin pic before heading to bed our last night! Thank you Janell and Brad for hosting the Copp Family get-together! We love visiting you and your family. We especially love seeing all the kids have so much fun together! Can't wait to get everyone together again for Christmas!

Love ALL these munchkins!!

Thanksgiving Week!

We took a break from the alphabet this week and instead spent the week talking about Thanksgiving! Each day we read about 2-3 different books about Thanksgiving and then did some fun activities.
We began the week by making another "Tom the Turkey."

I was still able to incorporate some learning into the fun activities. We did a Thanksgiving matching sheet...

and of course some art projects!

On Tuesday morning we made our "thankful" turkeys. Both Kieryn and Ronan had to put what they were thankful for!

That afternoon we did a counting worksheet and then made turkey treats!

On Wednesday we began the morning with a sheet to find the things that were "different".

Later we played with leaves and did sorting by colors. Kieryn was very proud of her leaf man!

On Thursday we did a pattern worksheet...

and colored some Thanksgiving pictures

Later that morning we went to story time at the library and they too had a bunch of fun Thanksgiving activities set up. The kids enjoyed the milk and cookies with their friend Callen!

That afternoon and evening we set up a huge train track in the basement and played for over an hour on it!

On Friday morning we made a leaf wreath and did some leaf play with Ronan.

Caught Ronan playing trains in his favorite slippers and couldn't resist taking a quick pic!

Our newest K-State Santa arrived on Friday! It made me very excited and ready to put up my Christmas decor!

So of course... we began Saturday morning by doing just that! Kieryn helped me sort tree branches...

And after we found these we had to turn on some Christmas music and break for a dance party!

We took a break around 11:00 and got ready for the Palmyra's holiday parade. It was SOOOO cold, but fun just the same!

We got to go with our friends...

And afterwards we came home to warm up and finish the tree...

Usually I wait to put up Christmas until after Thanksgiving but we are traveling so much at the end of Nov and Dec that we wanted to enjoy them. I think it was a little confusing for Kieryn that we'd just spent the week talking about Thanksgiving and then we put up the tree... I tried to explain that we wanted to enjoy the tree and lights for a little longer due to our traveling. I think she understood... and if not, she sure had fun putting up the tree and all the ornaments. So either way I think it's ok! We look forward to seeing the Copp family next week for Thanksgiving!
