Week 1 of school being closed! We did it!!

Well we survived our first week of our version of "home school," which is really just reviewing and practicing math, reading, handwriting, and grammar that the kids were doing in school. It was by no means intense, but it was good to get into a routine!

Alexis covered letter X this week and had lots of fun finding in her name the X in her name on the wall of her room!

We began on Monday with size and color practice...

And then we played our toy xylophone fast, slow, loud, quiet, and then named the colors as we played them!

On Monday the big kids were excited to do school at home. They worked hard on their workbooks!

Tuesday was St. Patrick's day so the letter X lesson was brief to make time for some other fun activities. We made X  and different shapes with some sticks...

We made green slime! The big kids loved this one!! Wow was it messy!

We baked green cupcakes with green frosting!

And did a workout together after all the sugar! :)

That night we had fun making catapults and shooting lucky charms into the bowl. Great fun!

On Wednesday we had fun with the word "box" and "fox"...

We began with pipe cleaner X making...

Then practiced following instructions and knowing directions...

We put the fox in the box, out, on top, on the side, under, in front, and behind.

We finished with some tick-tack-toe!

On Thursday we talked about an X-ray...

We made a letter X with stones...

Then did some painting...

For our activity time we did some boxing! The kids loved it!

On Friday we did puzzles and painted spring pictures.

Then the big kids helped Alexis with her letter X treasure hunt!

Alexis had to find the numbers 1-7 in numerical order. This was great number practice and recognition!

X marks the spot for treasure!

Treasure - yummy Twix treasure that is! Big enough to share!

It was a great week, but by Friday the big kids were not as excited to do home school and were begging more for play dates with friends. The next weeks could prove to be way more difficult. Fingers crossed for some nice weather so we can get outside more!

Until next time!
