Wild week with letter W!

We began letter W week with a Sesame Street letter W video (6 minutes), a few books, and a Winnie the Pooh puzzle...

I saved the majority of the day's lesson for when Kieryn got home from school. I thought she'd enjoy part of it! We tried weaving...

We read about our favorite mascot...

Then I surprised them with a picture.... we ended the lesson with the Wabash Cannonball,  KSU chant and of course, pretend Wildcat "tackle" football! :)

On Tuesday Micah and Ronan used watercolors to paint the letter W...

Then they painted a picture that had a letter W item in it somewhere... they had to find it.

Afterwards we did a demonstration about how things get heavier when we add weight. We tried this using weights and a toy wagon. Each time the boys made a lap around the kitchen before we added more weight. The boys loved it!

We were able to fit 1-10#, 2-8#, 2-5#, 2-4#, 2-1#, and 2-.2# for a grand total of ~46.5#... they both pulled it around and back! I was quite impressed. They wanted to keeping going so I think they were impressed with themselves as well!

We ended the lesson with a wizard wand color match...

Then we made a wooden wizard wand of our own. (wooden popsicle stick, curly ribbon, and tape)

On Tuesday night at our kid class we had a great workout! We did waddling, walking, and of course wobbling! The wobbling was their favorite.

On Thursday we used wiggly worms for our lesson... we practiced cutting and tracing with a gummy worm...

We did some W sound matching...

Then we went outside and collected some worms... luckily it has been rainy so there were lots of worms to choose from...

Ronan even held one! We practiced using words to describe the worms!

On Friday we did some tracing and talked about whales...

We did some matching...

A letter w search...

And we read a bible story about Jonah and the whale! Great way to end letter W week!

Over the weekend the kids had fun at a neighbor's birthday party...

And I found time during the week to finish my Easter wreath! Just in time for W week!

Until next time!

Spring Break Fun!

Our Spring Break was off to a wonderful start as Kieryn, Ronan, and I went to open gymnastics Friday morning and out to eat lunch at Pizza Hut... but things changed when the Kia began making funny noises on our drive to Seneca...Grandpa and Grandma Haug had agreed to watch the kids for the weekend so we could work on landscaping and outside needs of the house. The Kia broke down about 30 minutes outside of Manhattan. Due to our warranty, it had to be towed back to Junction City so a dealership could do the repairs. We felt lucky that we didn't go off the road! Luckily my parents met us, picked up the kids and brought me a vehicle. We are still waiting to get clearance for repairs on the Kia....

The Kia breaking down didn't hinder any of the fun that the kids had on the farm! They had a blast helping Grandpa with chores and exploring at the creek!

They got so spoiled!

The kids even brought home a surprise! We are hatching eggs for Grandpa! Hope it goes well!

Kieryn has had a fun time over her spring break! She's been pretending with her doll, Ronan, her cousins, and her friends...

She's even helped Daddy with some landscaping!

Here are some of the changes to the front.... BEFORE..

AFTER... we changed mulch color, painted the front door, and added some cedar touches!

Steven had become a very good wood craftsman... he made this lantern!

Changed out the mailbox, post, and mulch...

We added carriage hardware to the garage doors, a house sign, and changed all the outside light fixtures!

Steven made our new house sign too!! He's just amazing!

We continue to work on landscaping... Kieryn enjoys helping!

On Saturday the kids got to jump in a few puddles!

Hope to soon be planting these guys in our garden! Fingers crossed!

Until next time!
