Stupendous week- letter S

We had a splendid week with letter s! There were so many fun things that it was hard to choose what to use. Sadly we didn't have snow for sledding, snowmen, or snowball fights.... But luckily it was warm enough that we got to enjoy the sun, slides, swings, and seesaws! We had breakfast on Monday at Chick Fila and enjoyed some morning slipper sliding in socks!

Later we did S tracing...

Used scissors to practice cutting...

And played with some S- things...

Soap in the sink with syringe squirting!

We played soccer that afternoon.

That evening we got to enjoy one of Kieryn's new dance routines!

On Tuesday I had the boys begin their lesson with a sticker S...

Then we used sticks to make shapes!

We did a shape review/match...

And practiced finding the "longest/shortest" snake and putting them in size order.

We did the same with sandwiches; finding the tallest/shortest.

Before lunch we practiced slicing strawberries using plastic knives!

That afternoon Kieryn and Ronan had fun with sea shells. We tried saying the sea shell tounge twister while making a giant S.

At our kid fitness class we did sprints, squats, shuffles, spinning, and snow shovel scooping!

While I worked at the gym on Wednesday Janell had the boys sew a letter S...

Paint a snowman picture...

And play a super shape game...

On Thursday Ronan and I made sugar cookies! Ronan was so happy. He loves sugar cookies!

We settled on making letters, stars, and hearts...

With sprinkles of course!

Kieryn was happy to help with the sprinkles!

On Friday we did spider counting...

Kieryn said she likes doing things with us so I had a sheet for her too.

We did a "s" sound match...

And made a silly spider! We used the spider for a few nursery rhymes... Then the kids just chased each other with them!

On Saturday these two had a blast playing superheroes!

We talked about how real superheroes serve others...

We even had time to do some safety reviewing... Fire safety, stranger safety, and who to call in emergencies. We talked about being polite to all strangers but never taking food or toys from them and never leaving with them! Always a good idea to talk about these things!

Kieryn even had a superhero bday party on Saturday night!

On Sunday I finished my first stocking hat... I attempted crocheting the slouchy hat... Not bad for NOT having a pattern... I was inspired after seeing my brother's hat last weekend and just went for it!

It's fun that it can be a slouchy or regular stocking hat...

I may be fighting someone for it...

Until next time...

Really Radical Letter R

This week we practiced letter R. Ronan was more than excited to do this letter because it is "his" letter! We began on Monday with R/r raindrop letter matching. We watched a short clip about how rain and rainbows are made...

Then we attempted to make our own rain cloud using shaving cream and food coloring. Ronan chose green for the rain.

Then we tried making a rainbow. It worked but the angle was too hard for Ronan to get...

Then we did some water reflections using the sun from our back windows. It made reflections on the wall.

We finished by reading Noah and his Ark from our children's bible. We discussed why God sent a rainbow and how he keeps his promises.

That evening we did a rainbow experiment with Kieryn using skittles and water... It was really Rad!

On Tuesday I had Micah for preschool. We began the lesson by playing in rice...

Then we used rocket shooters for a name game...

The boys used the rockets to blast the letters that spelled their name...

Once they hit the letter they had to attach it to their rocket in the correct order (which spelled their name)...

When they finished we gave the rockets tails and turned on the song "rocket ship run" to practice counting backwards from 5.

Later we did some tracing...

That evening was our "kid fit" class and I decided to incorporated letter R. We did rock hopping...

Ball rolling races...

Rolling to knock over the jug...

And ropes! They were worn out!

On Wednesday Ronan went to Janell's. They did a robot sticker picture and made a neat railroad crossing sign to practice both cutting out a circle and tracing R.

On Thursday we did red rectangle math and a number-to-number R... Which we turned into a rabbit after connecting all the numbers 1-20.

On Friday we reviewed a bible verse that talkes about "running in such a way as to win the prize." This was a discussion lesson before heading into gymnastics... When inside we did a running race!

I guess this was a life lesson to wrap up the week... The kids got to help/mostly watch us process Raw meat. Now they know where hamburger comes from...We headed to Seneca on Saturday for a big day of butchering. Fun fun!!

Until next week!
