Simply Satisfactory!

We began letter "S" week with an animal match sheet. I was surprised when Ronan could find the matches!

Then we played with stickers and made a few sticker stories!

While Kieryn was at school, Ronan got to do a bit of snow play.

On Tuesday we traced the letter s and then made snails with squares on their shells!

Then later that day we practiced drawing spirals.

On Wednesday we began the morning with a sock match.

And then had fun on an indoor slide! This is STILL up. The kids loved it!

That afternoon, the kids did some sugar tracing/play. Kiery was so happy that she drew a letter K all by herself!

On Thursday morning we woke up to very snowy conditions! Steven even stayed home from work! Luckily we had lots of fun letter S things to do to keep us busy! We started with straw painting. It didn't work the greatest, so it turned into finger painting!

We practiced finding letters to spell their names...

and then we made spiders and sang a few nursery rhymes!

Later that day around 4:30, the snow had subsided... we got another 8 inches! So, we took the kids out for some snow play!

After supper on Thursday, we did a skittle color match. Both kids had fun, and of course, loved the candy!

On Friday we practiced the letter s sound and Kieryn was very good and picking the correct picture!

Over the weekend the kids had fun playing in the snow and sledding with friends! What a great week!

Really Rad Week!

We began this week with a letter R coloring sheet. I really tried to get Ronan more involved so he did nearly everything Kieryn did!

They both got new recorders!

On Tuesday we played a race, run, read game. Kieryn loved it. I put words on race cars; some starting with capital letters, some beginning with lower case. After she raced them, ran to get the winning car, and then she had to read it and match to the correct word on the wall, which began with the opposite, either upper or lowercase letters. She did surprisingly well at it! I used words like- Kieryn, Ronan, Mom, Dad, Rain, Cat, Dog, It, We, etc. Ronan's cars had shapes on them. He wasn't really in to the matching part... just the racing, running, and screaming!

We also did 4 site words this week to begin reading. I was shocked that she remembered the four. I think we'll try another 2-3 next week and keep building! :)

That afternoon we made red rectangle robots.

Wednesday we made an R- rabbit and read a few Winnie the Pooh books about Rabbit.

Thursday we made a rain cloud and sang "It's raining, it's pouring," Rain, Rain, go away," and we watched a few YouTube rain dances... and then of course made up our own rain dance!

Kieryn was sick on Thursday afternoon and Friday, so when she was up to it, we did some R activities on Saturday.  We did a rainbow name tracing. She had to finish the letters..did very good at it! Ronan just had help writing his name and saying the letters.

We did some rainbow dot hopping. and then did a rainbow toy search; finding one toy for each color.

Ronan is really starting to enjoy coloring. He's even experimenting with his artistic abilities...

Until next week...

Letter Q!

We began the week with some sick kiddos... Kieryn spent most of the day on the couch and Ronan wanted to be held... so it was a book and movie day... sometimes much needed!

By the afternoon on Tuesday Kieryn was feeling a little better and wanted to start our letter of the week so we did a Q/q quilt and read the letter q book.

Ronan's new favorite book as of the past 2-3 weeks is the Thomas book... he even sleeps with it!

We also did Q-tip gluing and q-tip painting...

On Wednesday we did Queen letter tracing, made a queen crown, and of course, sang Queen Elsa's "Let It Go"!

We did an Ash Wednesday lesson at home on Wednesday because none of the mass times worked for all of us to go together. The kids loved it!

On Thursday morning we did a queen crown dice game, talked about quieting quarrels, did a "q' sound worksheet and then a quarter toss. The kids loved the quarter toss!

Over the weekend I attended a fitness conference in Philly. While I was gone, Grandmom and Grandpop Copp stayed with Steven and the kids. They had lots of fun playing, reading, and visiting Bass Pro! Thank you Grandmom and Grandpop for all your help! We love you!!
