Safety first!

On Monday morning, Kieryn wanted to share her new PJs with baby brother... I couldn't miss this adorable photo opportunity!

This week I chose to do a "SAFETY" week. Each letter of the word "safety" stood for something we talked about-- S=strangers, A=alarms & sirens, F=fire safety, E=emergencies, T=telephone, Y=you. We began Monday talking about strangers. We looked at photos of family, safe strangers, and then not safe strangers. We read some books and discussed some "stranger" situations. She seemed to understand it, however, the concept is still a little confusing when strangers act nice... we'll continue to work on it.

On Tuesday we listened to different alarms and sirens. We discussed why they were loud and what they meant. We took time to find the smoke alarms in our house and then those in the building of playgroup. We even listened for ambulance and firetrucks while playing outside.

Tuesday night we played at the Kidmazium! This is my new VERY part-time job. I work here two nights a month and barter the hours towards a summer gymnastics class for Kieryn! The facility is close and the kids can play while I work... WIN-WIN!!

Wednesday was fire safety day. We talked about firefighters and what they do. We read books and then pretended to put out fires throughout the neighborhood. Kieryn loved this! We had to "sound the alarm" when there was a fire (the horn on her bike). It was great!

Thursday we talked about emergencies and discussed what real emergencies are. She did a great job deciding which were serious emergencies and which were not.

Then we did some practice with an emergency... fire on the clothing - STOP, DROP, & ROLL. She loved it! We tried talking about what to do if she smelled smoke and heard the fire alarms... feeling doors for warmth and crawling on the floor, but it was short lived... she didn't like the idea of a fire being in the house.

That afternoon we had friends over and we had lots of fun outside with water! So sad that Kayden and Noah are moving next week...

Friday we reviewed how to dial 911 on the land line and on my cell phone. She did a great job! She can tell them what happened and what our address is. It was so funny when she began having a full pretend conversation talking about how she was getting a big girl bike soon and her grandparents were coming to visit. SO CUTE!

For the "y" we reviewed holding hands when we cross the street, wearing bike helmets, and strangers. I had books and songs for this one.

Ronan is our growing boy...licks the jar clean!

This weekend we had so much fun out doors. The weather was FINALLY fabulous!

I was proud of that make-shift tee!

Kieryn got her big girl bike! She wants to ride it all the time now...

And Ronan is 10 months old! He's growing so fast... where has the time gone??

We love you Kieryn and Ronan! Until next time...

It's time for warmer weather!

We have been getting outside as much as the weather will allow... some days we get lucky and others it's cloudy and cold or sunny with very cold wind... but when it's nice, we are out playing all day!

On the not so nice days to be out doors we find ourselves playing pretend in the basement... Ronan enjoys cooking in the kitchen as much as Kieryn!

But seriously... we are ready for warmer weather!!

Family Visiting!

We continued to have a great visit with Grandpa and Grandma Haug. On Sunday morning we made homemade donuts! Kieryn liked the ones with blue frosting best!

Our first time taking the kids bowling was a success. However, I think there were too many frames for Kieryn... she was tired by the end!

We took the grandparents to Chocolate world...

And to the Hershey Story Museum.

Kieryn loves the new dress up clothes they surprised her with! We were so sad to see them leave, but had so much fun while they were here! We love you both so much and can't wait to see you again soon!

Ronan continues to get into things... he loves to investigate and explore!

Then, at the end of the week, Kieryn got to see her cousin Tiana singing at a talent contest! Tiana did a wonderful job! Congrats Tiana, we love you! Kieryn wanted to watch the video of you singing OVER AND OVER AND OVER!

Until next time...

Tons of FUN!

We began this week with a very proud girl... Kieryn can dress herself ALL BY HERSELF from head to toe! She was so happy about it!

We also hooked up the land line and spent a few days talking about emergencies and when to call 911. Surprisingly she seems to understand it real well. We'll continue to work on it and practice...

I caught the kids playing nicely, had to take a pic...

Ronan enjoys gymnastics but isn't quite fast enough to keep up with the big kids... Kieryn on the other hand is all over the place... she's in the pink pants waaaay up front.

Towards the end of the week we decorated the house with our Easter things... Kieryn and Ronan did the window clings.

Then on Thursday night, Grandma and Grandpa Haug arrived from Kansas! Kieryn was soooo excited to have them visit!

So far we've taken them to gymnastics...

Bass Pro Shop, and to some antique stores. We all had fun at Bass Pro...

We are so happy to have them here and even more happy that they get to stay until Wednesday!!

Safety First & Counting!

This week we talked about road safety and practiced counting and writing letters in Kieryn's name. We will most likely repeat this week next week as it will take lots of practice to get all this down...

On Monday we practiced counting even numbers 2-10 and practiced writing KIE

Tuesday we practiced counting odd numbers 1-9 and practiced writing RYN... on one day she chose to write with her right hand and the next day with her left... who knows! :)

On Wednesday we talked about the safety in holding hands when we crossed the street. We learned a new song about it and read some books...The two kids later had story time together!

I caught Ronan giving Violet some snuggles one morning ...

On Thursday we did an obstacle course and practiced count all numbers 1-10. She loved this and did VERY well. I was impressed. First she jumped off the couch...

Then ran down the hall, jumped over two pillows...

And chose a number by the front door. She then ran the number to the opposite end of the house, to the back door...

Where she counted out that number of cars or trains! Then back to the couch to do it again. She loved it!

She was very proud when she completed them all!

We didn't have much nice weather this week but on at least one day we made it out to enjoy some sun! We had a play-date with our friends who will soon be moving... sad! The kids were pretending to be on a sunny beach. It was adorable!

Hard to believe, but our baby turned 9 months on Wednesday! He is growing so quickly; sitting, pulling up and standing...three teeth, eating solids... WOW, where did the time go??
Kieryn likes helping with the photography!

We love you two kids to pieces!!
